"Law Office of Rory W. Clark" keeps calling – but isn't this firm closed?
I've gotten three calls this week from a number that comes up as "Law Office of Rory W. Clark." They say I owe a debt from a few years back. I almost called back to pay, but something made me Google them first.
What I found confused me. Apparently this law firm rebranded to a different name back in 2017. That's almost 9 years ago. So why are they still using the old name to call people?
Also the address they gave in the voicemail doesn't match what I found online. One address says North Andover, MA. Another source says Westlake Village, CA. That inconsistency makes me nervous.
I haven't called them back yet. My plan right now is to request written debt verification before I even talk to them on the phone. Has anyone else dealt with this specific firm? Did they actually provide proof of the debt? Just trying to figure out if this is a real collection or some kind of spoofing scam.
